Joe Torsey an apparel designer and creative based in Portland, OR.
I have worked in nearly every aspect of apparel creation over the past 17 years.
For the past 5 years, I worked for Tactics Boardshop, a Pacific Northwest based skate and snowboard retailer. I was in charge of all Tactics’ self-branded product. I built Tactics’ product creation department from scratch. Working cross-functinally, I managed everything from line planning, strategy, creative direction and design — to shipping, importing and cost management. I did this for around 120 SKUs per season, from custom cut and sew to skateboard decks.
I also work as a Fractional Product Creator / Consultant for various brands under my LLC, Torsey Garment Co.
I started out on the production floor at Massive Prints in Los Angeles, managing accounts and printing shirts for a wide range of brands.
I worked at Airblaster snowboard outerwear for 8 years. Managing development, production and sourcing of technical snowsports outerwear with factories in Taiwan, China, Vietnam and Cambodia.
This range of experiences has provided me with a diverse skill set and valuable perspective on product creation. My familiarity with “the boring stuff” allows me to be strategic, scrappy and efficient when working within a team toward a common goal.
